HOT TOPICS Deadline for Required Local Equity Plans is January 19
The period for districts to submit their required local equity plans has been open since November 17 and soon will close. Districts and community schools must submit their local equity plans within the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) by January 19, 2018. Districts are to develop their plans by working with relevant stakeholders. This will be the second year that districts have submitted these plans. ODE’s Center for the Teaching Profession has developed a resource guide, explanation of the Local Equitable Access Analysis Tool, and other planning resources. Find all resources here. Donors Choose Can Support Classroom Projects and Needs Donors Choose is an organization that supports education in a manner similar to crowd funding. However, instead of raising cash by contacting a personal network of family and friends, Donors Choose translates the funds that it raises into equipment and supplies necessary for the classroom projects to be supported. To date, nationwide the organization has mobilized more than 2.9 million citizen donors and contributed more than $624 million in supplies and equipment to schools. In Ohio alone, the value of Donors Choose support is over $9 million. Foreachregisteredstudent, theFederalQuotaRegistrationgeneratessupplemental funds that are used by the AT & AEM Center to purchase accessible educational materials (audio, braille, digital, large print textbooks, and educational aids) for eligible students at the district’s request from the American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. Each student MUST have a current eye report (2015 or later) and a signed parent permission on file at the student’s district of attendance. The registration form included in the email is due back to the AT & AEM Center’s office by Friday, January 26, 2018.
