The Budget Bill The budget bill for fiscal years 2020 and 2021 has now been formally introduced as House Bill 166. The entire 1,810 page bill can be found at this link: https://www.legislature.ohio. gov/legislation/legislation-documents?id=GA133-HB-166 Reminder: 2018-2019 Kindergarten Survey Now Available Ohio law requires the ODE to survey all public school districts on an annual basis regarding kindergarten schedules and fees or tuition charged for providing all-day kindergarten services. The 2018-2019 survey is available here . The survey is due by April 12. It May Seem Early, but the 2020 ACT and SAT Dates Are Set The dates for the spring 2020 ACT and spring 2020 SAT state-funded testing noware available on the ODE’s website. They are listed below the spring 2019 dates on both webpages. Suicide Prevention Resources As you may be aware, two Parkland students and one Sandy Hook parent have died by suicide in the past week. While exact cause and triggers are unknown, their deaths are in “proximity” to the anniversaries of the Parkland shootings and the March for Our Lives protests, as well as the extensive media and social media attention to the New Zealand shootings. The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has a number of resources addressing identification, assessment, and intervention in possible suicidal situations. These include: • Sharing information with staff and families on risk factors and warning signs • Alerting crisis prevention/response teams at your schools to be attentive and vigilant regarding any rumors regarding students’ behaviors • Reviewing risk assessment and intervention procedures and protocols • Monitoring social media NASP also has additional suicide prevention resources online to share as you may deem appropriate.
