Gifted Self-Report Due June 1 The annual Self Report on Identification and Services for Students Who are Gifted is now available. District superintendents should have received a link to the survey via email on Friday, April 20. This required report provides information the Department uses to develop resources and professional development. The report is due no later than June 1. A PDF version for planning purposes only is available here . Medical Waiver Requests Due May 25 AlthoughOhioexpects all students to takepart in state tests, theremay be rare circumstances in which students cannot take one or more assessments during the testing window dates, including makeup dates, because of medical emergencies. In such cases, a district must submit an application for a medical emergency waiver . This link will take you to the instructions for requesting the waiver through a SAFE account.
Revised Ohio Standards for Principals Open for Second Round of Public Comment
The Ohio Department of Education, with guidance froman advisory workgroup of principals, superintendents and others, has made draft revisions to the Ohio Standards for Principals to better reflect the roles and responsibilities of today’s building leaders. The Department posted an initial draft for public comment in late February. An updated version reflecting the comments and feedback is now available for educator and public review and comment from April 16 through May 11.
HOT TOPICS
Education Management Information System The Ohio Department of Education EMIS (Education Management Information System) office released an updated data collection calendar for the remainder of this school year. This calendar will require districts to complete and appeal many of the EMIS data collections approximately a week and a half earlier than in years past. Superintendents, as well as assessment and EMIS coordinators will need to pay close attention to these changes, to make sure staff are available during June and early July to complete the data submissions needed for the Report Card. • Several collections that would have closed on July 27 will now close on July 18, with the appeal windows for those collections now closing on the 27th instead of in early August. • To assist with workload planning, several collections that would have closed on July 27 will now close in August 10. Why is this change being made? • Starting this year, results for nearly all grade 3-8 and End of Course assessments will be available to districts the week of June 4th. This is approximately 4 weeks earlier than in years past. Taken together, districts will actually have more time than in years past to complete assessment reporting. • An improvement to the gap closing measures (including subgroup progress measures) requires additional time to calculate progress between the close of data submission and publishing of the report card. This change will only improve scores on the gap measures.

University of Dayton/BASA Superintendent Licensure Program Cohort - Class Schedule 2018-2019
University of Dayton Department of Educational Administration Principles of academic practice form the structure of all EDA programs aligned with these professional standards. First, the pedagogical goals for you and all students in EDA include planned growth in your knowledge, performance, and dispositions, the constructs of our professional affiliation with ELCC. Second, a “knowledge” base of effective school leadership exists and is the foundation of what you as a potential school leader need to master to be effective in producing improved student learning outcomes. “Performance” is defined by ELCC as those proficiencies in subject, professional and pedagogical knowledge, skills, and dispositions that benefit student learning. “Performance” is also described as related to the quality of institutional practice, in addition to individual practice. “Dispositions” are defined as those values, commitments, and professional ethics that influence your behaviors toward students, families, colleagues, and communities and affect student learning. These principles include a heavy emphasis on pedagogy that is practice-related, problem- based, i.e., “field” related. In EDA courses you will be continually engaged in building your knowledge - knowledge that is based in research and applied to practice in real schools. Throughout each EDA program, you will apply sound leadership knowledge to problems of contemporary PK-12 public , Catholic and other non-public schools.
