Rehiring a retiree to the same or similar position by the same employing board of education requires a hearing (within 15 to 30 days prior to employment) with public notice of the hearing published at least 60 days prior to employment. A school district board of education is permitted, but not required, to adopt a policy authorizing students to attend released time courses in religious instruction conducted off school property during regular school hours. Students may not be excused from any course required to meet the core course credits needed for graduation. The district policy may provide for the granting of up to two units of high school credit for the released time religious instruction, subject to the district board's evaluation of the courses based on secular criteria. However, the units of credit must be elective and not replace any of the core course requirements for graduation. School districts, their board members, and employees are granted immunity from a civil action for damages for injury allegedly arising during a student's transportation to or from a place of instruction when private transportation is used under a released time policy. School districts are authorized to enter into contracts with public and private entities to provide academic and intervention services for students at any grade level (and not just grades 1-6, as in prior law.) Boards are permitted to establish and maintain a replacement fund for property. This particular fund is limited to use for the rebuilding, restoration, repair, or improvement of property which has been totally or partially destroyed or has become unfit for use. The board may also determine the maximum amount to be maintained in the fund, but any interest must be credited to the General Fund. Beginning with the 2013-2014 report card, additional information for each school district and school will be compiled by the state department of education and make this information available on its web site. This information will include the following: 1)students who skipped a grade or subject area under an acceleration policy; 2)number of economically disadvantaged students; 3)number of lead teachers 4)number of students screened and identified as gifted; 5)student outcome data for community schools primarily serving students in dropout recovery and prevention programs; 6)availability of courses in the fine arts; 7)participation with other school districts in providing career-technical education services; and 8)extracurricular services offered to students. When a student is newly enrolled in any school operated by a city, exempted village, or local school district, the school official responsible for admissions must provide to the parent a copy of the most recent
