Why File?
The General Assembly has included financial disclosure as a central requirement in the Ethics Law since it was enacted in 1974. The annual financial disclosure requirement serves two related goals: 1. It reminds public officials and employees of their financial interests to help them avoid conflicts of interest; and 2. It promotes public confidence in the integrity of government by providing citizens with information about those who serve them.
